The X-Ray Effects Laboratory maintains an inventory of current gamma-ray detectors, including four HPGe spectrometers and various scintillators, with significant NIM and CAMAC instrumentation. Several x-ray generating devices are available on-site, including medical and industrial x-ray tubes and a Varian L200A 2-MeV linac. Established research collaborations exist with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russia), the University of Stuttgart, the Technical University of Darmstadt, Brookhaven National Laboratory, University of Surrey and other institutions. The 12-month appointment will provide full fringe benefits, including health care, and privileges accorded to Full-Time Professional and Administrative staff under the present collectively bargained agreement.
Requirements:
Candidates must be US citizens and have a Ph.D. in Physics with experience in experimental nuclear physics and a successful history of publications in reviewed journals. Particularly attractive will be experience in gamma spectroscopy and/or photonuclear reactions at energies up to 10 MeV. Deadline for applications is October 1, 2002 or until the position is filled.
